Terms of Use
These terms are the agreement between you and David Teyu ("we") for using Shorts Studio, a tool for making short videos with AI. By creating an account you agree to them. Please also read our Privacy Policy.
1. Who can use it
You must be at least 18 and able to agree to these terms. If you use Shorts Studio for a business, you confirm you can agree on its behalf.
2. Your account
Keep your sign-in details safe. You're responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us at shortsstudio.help@proton.me if you think someone else is using it. One person per account.
3. What you may not make
Shorts Studio has safety checks built in, and you agree not to try to get around them. In particular, you may not use it to:
- Depict real people realistically, including celebrities, politicians or people you know, in AI pictures, clips or voices. The only exception is your own face, after the app's live face check, and only for photos of you.
- Involve minors. Characters must be invented adults. No content that sexualises, endangers or exploits children, ever.
- Clone a voice that isn't yours, unless you have the clear right to use it.
- Make sexual or intimate content of any real person, or content that harasses, threatens, defames or impersonates anyone.
- Make content that is illegal, that promotes violence or hatred, or that is meant to deceive people (for example fake news presented as real, or scams).
- Upload footage, music or pictures you don't have the rights to use.
- Break the law, overload or attack the service, scrape it, share your account, or resell access without our permission.
Our providers' rules also apply, including Google's Generative AI Prohibited Use Policy and ElevenLabs' prohibited use policy.
4. AI output
- It can be wrong. Scripts, facts and research come from AI and web search and may contain mistakes. Check facts before you publish, especially money, health or legal topics.
- You're responsible for what you publish. Review every video before posting it.
- Label AI content. When a video has realistic AI-made people, voices or scenes, YouTube asks you to mark it as altered or synthetic content. Shorts Studio sets that flag for you where it can; don't remove it when it applies.
- Similar prompts can produce similar results for other users, so we can't promise your output is unique.
5. Who owns what
Your content is yours. You keep all rights to what you upload and, as far as the law allows, to the videos and media you make. You give us only the permission we need to store, process and show your content to you, and to send it to the providers listed in the Privacy Policy so they can do the work you ask for. That permission ends when you delete the content, apart from backups for a short time.
Whether AI-generated content can be protected by copyright depends on where you live.
Shorts Studio itself (the app, its design and its built-in music) belongs to us. You may use the built-in music in videos you make with Shorts Studio.
6. Other services' terms
- YouTube: posting to YouTube uses YouTube API Services. By connecting your channel you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service and the Google Privacy Policy.
- Stock footage: free photos and videos come from Pixabay and Pexels under Pixabay's and Pexels' licences. Those licences allow use in videos but forbid things such as selling the unaltered files or showing identifiable people in a bad light.
- Voices: ElevenLabs voices are used under ElevenLabs' terms.
7. Usage limits and paid plans
Each account gets a number of credits a month with its plan, and AI jobs use credits. The app shows a job's price in credits before expensive videos. We may slow down or pause accounts that hit their limit or use the service unusually heavily.
Billing and renewal. Paid plans are billed monthly or yearly in advance, through Stripe, and renew automatically on your billing day until you cancel. Prices are shown on the Plans page before you pay.
Taxes. Prices are in US dollars, and we don't currently add sales tax, VAT, GST or similar taxes to them. If we need to start, any tax will be shown at checkout before you pay, worked out from the billing address you give there, so please give your real one.
Your plan's credits refill each month; unused plan credits end with the month, except where your plan says they roll over. Top-up credits never expire.
Cancelling. You can cancel at any time in Manage billing. You keep your plan and its credits until the end of the period you've paid for, and you won't be charged again.
No refunds. All payments for plans and top-up packs are final and non-refundable, including for unused credits, part of a month or year, or a plan you cancel early. Because credits pay for AI work that starts as soon as you use them, by buying you ask us to make them available straight away. This doesn't affect any rights the law where you live gives you that can't be taken away, and if we charge you by mistake (for example twice for the same thing) we'll put it right.
8. Suspension and closing your account
You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or that the law requires us to act on. Where reasonable we'll tell you why and give you a chance to download your content first.
If you believe content on Shorts Studio infringes your rights, contact shortsstudio.help@proton.me.
9. No guarantees
Shorts Studio is provided "as is". We work to keep it running and correct, but we don't promise it will always be available, error-free, or that its output will suit your purpose or get views. Back up videos you care about.
10. Limits on our liability
As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses (such as lost profits, lost data or channel strikes), and our total liability to you is limited to the greater of what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim and SGD 100. Nothing here limits liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit.
You agree to cover our reasonable costs if a claim against us is caused by content you uploaded or published in breach of these terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and disputes go to the courts of Singapore, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them there.
12. Changes
We may update these terms. We'll change the date above and, for important changes, tell you by email or in the app at least 14 days before they take effect. If you keep using Shorts Studio after that, the new terms apply.
